Event Rules Overview
TRIPLE THREAT STREETBALL USES A UNIQUE
SET OF STREETBALL RULES
- Streetball rules, no referee’s through-out all standard games. Fouls, and disputes resolved via game players ONLY, and are all mutual and respectful. Remember, there could be several spectators watching so play hard though play fair.
- All semi-finals and finals games will have referee’s present.
- All games are played over 15 minutes with no stoppage. Once time has completed, one player from each team must record total points scored at scoring station. Only at this stage, the winning team will receive a bonus 2 points which will be included with total game points. If there is a tied game during standard games, no bonus points are awarded.
- If the game is tied at the end of regulation time of 15 minutes during semi-final or final games, the team who scores 2 points first wins the game. This could be either one 3-pointer or 2 points inside the 3-point line.
- The first possession of every game is decided by rock, paper, scissors. The team that wins, will check the ball first at the Triple Threat Streetball logo check-point (located top of key, above 3-point line).
- Basketball is checked at the Triple Threat Streetball logo checkpoint after every point, foul, or out-of-bounds. Teams must restart and check-ball within 10 seconds to avoid turnover (mutual agreement between players).
- Losing team always starts with possession at the Triple Threat Streetball Logo checkpoint.
- Points are scored with completed shots inside the 3-point line as 1 point and, outside the 3-point line as 2 points.
- All categories are to be played with the official Wilson 3×3 Basketball – Size 6 Weight 7.
- All teams must sign in before Triple Threat Streetball introduction begins at the event location, in person. No exceptions. Pre-registration is at the official registration page of the event.
- Triple Threat Streetball organizers reserve the right to disqualify any players or teams that disrupt the event, as indicated by the designated court monitor or game officials
- Disruptive behaviour includes excessive bad language, physical violence, threats, and uncooperative attitudes towards officials, staff or volunteers and/or court monitors. Trying to arrange scores and/or teams collaborating to engineer the scoring bonus (Collusion) will result in the offending teams being eliminated. (This decision is at the sole discretion of the game referees and event organisers.).
- Teams will consist of three players each.
- Players must be 16 years of age or older by the event date. The only exception is for the Mixed Team Category, which is open to players aged 15 to 17.
- Mixed Category Team Requirements:
For the Mixed Team Category, each team must include at least one female or non-male player. A minimum of one female or non-male identifying player must be on court at all times during play. Failure to meet this requirement will result in forfeiture of that game. This applies only to teams registered under the Mixed Category. Triple Threat Streetball reserves the right to request identification from any player to verify age eligibility and category compliance. Players unable to provide appropriate proof of age or identity may be disqualified from the event. - The event organiser has the right to change the event format or dates within 1 week of the event given local circumstances e.g., weather.
- If any top 4 teams have the same number of points after all standard games have been completed, a “Sudden Death” Free Throw Shootout will decide which team retains that position on the ladder. The losing team will move down one position on the ladder.
- In case of “Sudden Death” Free Throw Shootout, teams will establish the order for the shootout. If the free throw is missed, then that team player is out unless all the shooters in that round miss then the free throw shootout will restart. Once all team players have taken a shot, the cycle is repeated until one team player remains and a winner is established. This rule applies for each round except the semi-final and final which rule (2) is applied.
